On 1997 the architect Lawrence Halprin decided to make a structure that honored Franklin because he was a very marked president. In that same year, 1997, the memorial was constructed. It included 7.5 acres of space. The architecture of the memorial was very professional. It was made completely of bronze. This special effect makes it unique and impressive. The structure has a greenish tone. The structure had extraordinary quality, so it cost $1.65. It is a very elevated price but that purchase was very worthy.
When the Memorial was starting to be constructed an enormous controversy occurred. The construction people did not knew what the correct thing was. The doubt was if Roosevelt was going to be standing up or if he was going to be on a wheel chair. Franklin had a problem with his disability so it would look very real if he was made in a wheel chair, but he was such a hero that other people wanted to make him standing up. Finally the structure was made with Mr. Franklin sitting down. This recognizes that even thought he had some disability; he did a lot for his nation.
Nowadays this phenomenal memorial is located on Washington DC, United States. The memorial is located in Washington DC because Washington DC is the capital of the United States of America also that is the city where Roosevelt lived during his presidential term. The purpose of the Roosevelt memorial is to bring visitors to Washington DC. Specialist had found out that The Roosevelt Memorial is one of the greatest attractions in Washington DC for the visitors.
